Branch makes donation in aid of Pakistan Floods and calls upon members for support

E-mail Print PDF

Today's (26/08/10) Branch Committee agreed to a donation from the Branch's funds of £200 to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to aid their relief efforts in Pakistan after the devastating floods there. This is in addition to the £10 000 already donated by UNISON's National Executive to the Disasters Emergency Committee.  The affects of the floods have been devastating, and have affected million of people.  The response of the British people has as always been excellent, and we know that times are hard, but we call upon all our members to give what they can.

The Branch Committee also agreed plans for recruitment through the rest of this year including walk arounds in the day and at night as well as a stall to distribute diaries to members and sign new members up.

Our response to a consultation on UNISON's response to issues on pay and pensions was worked on, including what sort of action our members might be willing to take. If you have any views on this please contact the Branch Chair.

The arrangements for Ed Miliband's visit to the Branch were also agreed, and members are encouraged to attend.

Branch Committee meets on the last Thursday of every month at 10am in the Joint Union Office at Selly Oak Hospital.

However due to leave there will be NO MEETING in September.

Proposed Pay Freeze will NOT affect increments

E-mail Print PDF

All members will be glad to heard that the announced pay freeze will not affect our progression through incridments, which UNISON asserts is a contractual right of staff in any case.  That still leave the freeze on cost of living increase for the next two years but UNISON will be fighting hard to see that off.
