Today's (25/02/10) Branch Committee welcomed the issuing of the Pay Circular by NHS Employers implementing the third and final year of the pay deal.
The deal means from 1st April this year:
- An increase of 2.25% to the national salary scales
- A flat rate increase of £420 to pay spine points 1-12 [i.e bands 1-3]
-
Reduction in the length of band 5 from nine to eight pay points by deleting the middle pay point (pay spine point 20). Re-spreading of the remaining points across the pay band.
Members should now see this on time in their April pay slips.
With inflation running at 3.7% RPI it is by no deal a great, leaving the pockets of our members squeezed, in the context of the last year it is a welcome deal. Particularly with the threat of pay freezes like the one being imposed on local government.
The Branch Committee heard an excellent report back from Women's Conference, with suggestions for the Branch to take up on domestic abuse and maternaty leave.
The committee also reviewed the AGM held on Tuesday which all present felt was very successful and discussed ways to build on it for next year.
Branch Committee meets on the last Thursday of every month at 10am in the Joint Union Office at Selly Oak Hospital. For more information contact James Anthony, Branch Chair
