The Branch AGM hears the best way to safeguard our NHS is to get organised

Roger McKenzie addresses the AGMToday's (23/02/10) packed Branch Annual General Meeting heard that public sevices as we know them are under threat and the best way to stop that is to organise together.  Calling on the Branch's members to get involved in UNISON's Million Voices Campaign, Regional Secretary Roger McKenzie said 'No-one woke up one morning and decided to create the NHS, it was ordinary working people like us who organised and campaigned to create it, and we need to do that again to defend it'.

The meeting also heard from Tim Jones, Executive Director for Delivery for UHB Trust who outlined the tough financial time ahead for the health service but that the trust had put things in place to make sure we can weather the storm.

The Branch decided unanimously to back current General Secretary, Dave Prentis, and nominate him for re-election.

The Branch also elected it's Officers for the year and delegates to the National Delegate Conference.
